This gorgeous pink quartz colored Hobé Asian Prosperity necklace is in pristine condition, with Asian inspired brass coins adorned with amethyst, garnet, and turquoise beads. Part of their costume line of Oriental/Chinese motifs, Hobe pieces are known for their high end, top notch quality that has held its value well throughout the years. The quality is readily visible in this exquisite necklace at a great price! The coins are a Feng Shui symbol, three coins together represents sharing wealth and luck. This act is said to bring good fortune and positive Feng Shui to both the giver and the receiver. Hobe pieces were made with genuine gemstones, quartz in particular, as this necklace is. The three dangling brass open center coins have a 2 inch drop with different Asian symbols on each side. These each have two garnet and one center amethyst dangling beads suspended from tiny round turquoise and tube shaped amethyst beads on gold plated findings. Rough polished pink quartz nuggets on the 18 inch strand are interspersed with round amethyst beads. The gold plated automatic sliding release closure is signed Hobé with the copyright symbol above it, dating it to sometime between 1975 (when the sliding closure was patented) and 1983, when this signature was last used. The easy to fasten (just push) clasp's patent number, 3,984,900, is on the back of the closure. This marvel is typical outstanding Hobé quality, made famous when worn by Hollywood stars and known for superb craftsmanship. A timeless necklace made by one of the finest designers!
The Hobe company was founded in Paris in 1887 by Jacques Hobe. His concept was to use fine jewelry techniques to create jewelry for the middle class as well as for the wealthy. His son William brought the company to America in 1915. Hobe jewelry was worn by Hollywood movie stars, who recognized its superior quality and increased its popularity.
