1744 George II Silver Tankard Thomas Laurence
Double marked (on bottom and under the lid).
18th Century Silver by a master silversmith.
Dated 1744, London, by Thomas Laurence. Please see marks.
Baluster form, the domed lid has an open work, chair backed thumb piece.
Scroll handle terminating in a heart shaped tail. The body has a mid-band. It rests on a pedestal base.
8" high. This is a very large stein.
The condition of the 250+ year old stein is near flawless. It has no scratches. There are NO black spots in the silver. There is one tiny dimple on the handle.
Note that there are some light security etchings on the bottom. While ill-advised, these have no impact on the piece and could be easily removed.
