Adorable 1940's Goebel Salt & Pepper Shaker Set - Flower Girls - Rose

They're cute as a button with their rosy cheeks and ruby red lips. Each little cherub holds a long-stemmed rose in full bloom. Goebel / Hummel produced this series of shakers in the mid- to late 1940's. There were several types of flowers represented in the series in addition to fruit -- as hats of a sort for these little gals.

This pair is being sold as a set although I am not sure that they are not duplicates. There are five holes in both of these shakers, and I'd assume that the salt shaker would differ from the pepper with number of holes. Nonetheless, they are highly collectible and rather hard to find, so you may not want to let this pair of flower girls pass you by!

In excellent condition with no chips or cracks, only some light crazing on the backs (and I almost missed noticing this minor flaw). The crazing is very slight and not at all unsightly. Marked 'Germany' on the underside below their patent leather shoes, and imprinted with P56 near the stopper hole. Both cork stoppers are present.
