Antique Pill Box Silver Putti Repousse Delft Pottery Hallmarked 1895 Signed Joost Thooft

This beautiful box has a repousse scene with four putti in a harbour setting with a sailing ship in the background. The delft lid insert has the classical Dutch scene of a windmill and cottage.

The silver is marked in three places. The first mark is the lion passant which is the Dutch quality mark from 1814 for silver purity. The second mark is the Minerva Head facing left, this is the duty mark for The Netherlands. The third silver mark is a stylized letter L , this is the date letter for 1895.

The delft lid insert is marked on the underside with the name Joost Thooft Labouchere. The delft date mark of a pot with a letter underneath is also marked on this piece. the date letter is Z and this represents the year 1892. The initials of the artist are VB.

This box is in superb condition. The delft insert is free from chips or cracks. The stand away hinge is in excellent working order and the box closes tightly.

The box is 2 1/4 inches long, 2 inches wide and 1 inch high.
