This example is another contemporary fantasy item made to appear to be an antique tea caddy or canister with metal mounts. The primary color is similar to the popular French 'Celeste Blue' from long ago and floral decals with only the semblance of hand painted artwork decorate the front medallion. The obligatory false crazing is present (to make it seem old), and patinated metal mounts. We are showing this item even though the quality of the images is low because it shows a different type of metal finish. We tend to see more items of this type with bronze finished metal and this one shows the silver color.
This arrangement of ceramic body/metal fittings is generally found on other items bearing the same mark seen, which we refer to in other listings as 'Wong Lee.' Search this shop by that name to view other similarly decorated items from the same reproduction wholesale sources who still offers these types of pieces for sale today - brand new.
The numbers present in the mark illustrated do not refer to the year the pieces were made. This is a contemporary item. This mark will never be found on an authentically old pottery or porcelain piece. It is an illusion, not a true antique.
Measures 5 inches in width and stands about 11 inches tall.
