An exceptional 18th century Meissen basket centerpiece, created during the rococo period circa 1760! The graceful reticulated form is very finely decorated with garlands of applied flowers and turquoise ribbons and gilding around the top and base. As shown in the last image, a very faint, blue under-glaze Meissen swords mark of the 18th century is visible on the underside of the basket. A very rare example of the finest quality of early Meissen!!
Width c. 9 1/4 (23.5 cm.); Height c. 3 1/2 in. (8.5 cm.); Depth c. 6 1/2 in. (16.5 cm.)
Condition is very good, with just a few of the typical losses to the applied flowers. No cracks, hairlines or other chips. An old restoration was very skillfully done on the top rim and is barely visible. The basket displays magnificently!
