Warhol's cover became a very popular poster as well. The book contains the film script (co-authored by Burkhard Driest) based on the Genet novel, Wilde's "The Ballad of Reading Gaol" (which was sung by Moreau in the movie), and the stunning over-size color photographs of Roger Fitz. Fassbinder shot the movie based on these stills. Book contains copious full-color photos of Davis (as Querelle), Nero, and Moreau.
The book has become a collectible per its relative rarity and the increasing cult status of the film.
