This old cheese box or crate with metal rims on the bottom and the lid was decoupaged with a colonial era harbour scene with ships.
We don't know how soon after its usefulness as a cheese box it was decorated, but it was clearly a long time ago. The interior was also lined in green velvet, now somewhat faded.
It is in very good condition, as our photos show, and measures 14" in diameter and 5" tall. It has no box maker's or cheese manufacturer's marks.
It could be used for all sorts of storage where the container itself is visible, perhaps for sewing supplies, but it was most recently used to store Christmas bulbs.
