Elroy Dohmeyer was a well-known Wisconsin ceramic and sculpture artist who died in 2007 at the age of 98. Right up to the end he was making his special brand of erotic figures such as we see attached to this fine bowl.
Two naked or nearly naked women sit on the rim on the bowl, one being caressed by a nude male figure while the other woman watches. His pieces were frequently naughty, never obscene, always intriguing.
The greenish gray bowl is speckled with dark spots and the women appear to wear a orange wrap that covers very little. The piece is 5.5" tall and 6" at it widest diameter. It is signed by the artist on the side,
It is in fine shape, with no chips or crack, but it has one firing bubble flaw on the seated woman's hind side (see last photo). The piece was found at an Albuquerque NM estate sale.
