Spectacular Coro set from mid-century 1950s or 1960s. Coro jewelry began production in New York in 1901 and continued through the 1970s becoming one of the most prolific jewelry makers. With top designers they turned out beautiful pieces in a multitude of colorful designs. This set belonged to my mother and is typical of Coro's popular style. Nine brushed and graduated silvertone hoops holding clusters of pale blue rhinestones, all suspended from a flexible linked chain that holds more rhinestones.
A classic Coro with a j-hook closure and maximum length of 15 inches. Perfectly matched clip-on earrings are 1-1/4 inches. Signature on the necklace is Coro (in script) as well as `Des. Pat. Pending.' Earrings are also marked in script on the clip possibly preceded by a copyright `c.'
