18th Century Boiserie Panel with Oil Painting
This panel of boiserie has an oval painting on board at the center depicting a chateau scene. In the foreground, there is a gentleman walking the grounds which features a small body of water surrounded by a mature forest of trees. The chateau is in the background of the painting. The ornamentation surrounding the painting is stepped in outer molding with indented corners bearing rosettes. At the top of the oval painting is a large gilded knotted ribbon holding strings of husks over a torus molding of beribboned oak leaves. Beneath this are two crossed branches of laurel and oak leaves tied with a gilded ribbon. A horizontal linear molding of various flowers and tied leaves runs the width of the panel.
This rare piece of history will be an attribute to any home.
