CONWAY Pattern
Powell, Bishop and Stonier Potteries
Staffordshire England
c. 1875
This lightly scalloped and impressed rim Victorian aesthetic 9 1/2 " wide plate is transfer printed in black, spectacular against a creamy white background. Bright reds, greens and turquoise under the glaze hand painting adds to the beauty of the composition.
The pattern features exotic songbirds lighted upon branches of multicolored leaves and flowers with a cartouche of a sailing vessel and two long billed tropical birds. The elegance is displayed in the unusual mix of creative coloring. The pattern displays the victorian eras love of the exotic.
The piece is in EXCELLENT condition, clean shiny and bright and there are no chips, no cracks, no hairline and no repairs. There is an old flea bite flake off the rim.. It is absolutely gorgeous - elegant and well potted, with richly detailed transfers reflecting the Victorian love of nature and the exotic. Displays beautifully or ready for use.
