EARLY ENGLISH DARK BLUE TRANSFERWARE PLATE
MONTHS ~ SEPTEMBER
Wedgwood China Works
Staffordshire England ~ 1898
This large late Victorian 10 3/8 inch plate is transfer printed in blue against an off white background showing good detail and good contrast. The best dark blue I have seen.
The plate is one of a series of seasonal scenes depicting the 12 months of the year, designed in the 1880s by Helen Miles. The images of the months were produced by Wedgwood in the Staffordshire region of England.
Great condition, never used.
