Plot: Dotty Rose moves into the house next door to Dolly Fayre. Both girls are just shy of their 15th birthdays and they become fast friends. Wells give a glimpse of what life was like for two moderately well-to-do families in the early part of the 20th century.
Carolyn Wells was married to Hadwin Houghton of Houghton-Mifflin publishing empire. Especially noted for her humor, frequent contributor of nonsense verse and whimsical pieces to such little magazines as Gelett Burgess - The Lark, The Chap Book, The Yellow Book and The Philistine.
