A truly singular antique, Agnes is an all original little beauty in MUSEUM quality condition with the sweetest face! Indeed, your heart will sing every time you see her in your cabinet! With those blushing cheeks and delicate brush strokes in her hair, you need this beauty now! ***LADY AGNES IS AVAILABLE ON LAYAWAY! Please take advantage of our liberal 8 month layaway program****

She has pale milky china of the highest quality, by Conta & Boheme, delicately blushed cheeks, with sweetly painted lips, nicely lidded blue eyes that glance upward giving Agnes an uplifting expression. She has dark tapered brows as well. Her hair is truly spectacular; it sweeps off of her face with delicate little brush strokes, to undulate backward into a bun. The bun creates an otherworldly waterfall effect, as though the softly plaited crown it creates at the back of her head is spilling forth with the rest of her hair. It is a truly masterful design, with little wear!

Her all original body is in excellent condition, with leather mitten hands(left hand partially restitched) and matching butterscotch brown heeled boots, horsehair stuffed body in very good condition! Her head has been reattached to the body by a previous loving owner, but we can promise you that both the body and costume are entirely original to the head.

In almost 30 years of handling these spectacular antiques, we have not seen a more beautiful ABSOLUTELY ANTIQUE costume on a china girl than this one... Yes, it is guaranteed to be an antique, and is original to her. This INCREDIBLE costume made entirely of extremely delicate pin striped pale pink and cream colored silk. As most of you know, any silk this delicate would have shredded or melted away with time- however, this incredible couturier costume has not- because it is entirely lined BY HAND with high quality cotton. Down the front of the dress there are magenta silk bows, and generously opened sleeves, which also feature magenta ribbon and gather the upper shoulders to form a slightly puffed "princess sleeve." The hem of the skirt also features the same magenta trimming. Between these magenta ribbons and bottom layer of pinstriped silk, before the hemline, the pinstriped section of the dress runs on a diagonal, creating a complex pattern shift. Underneath, she sports an adorable little half slip with three layers of self tucking and very beautiful micro-crocheted edge. This dress is a work of art that probably took a trained seamstress about four full days to complete; we've seen few examples of costumes this exquisite. Delicately tailored to her exact measurements, this dress was made especially for this exact doll, on this exact body, probably as a model of a dress that would have been made for the little girl who owned her. At a doll show, you could easily expect to pay $800 for a couturier dress of this caliber, especially as this there is not a single shred or tear to the spectacular silk of this gown. This girl is meant for another museum or world class collection, meant to be cherished and preserved as preciously as she has been from the time of her creation!

Marks: (none)

Condition: Absolutely superb. This girl is in very, VERY fine condition for an antique china doll; we rarely see them with as little wear as she has! However there is a very slight rub to her right cheek, probably where her previous loving owner kissed her cheek before laying her down to bed, where she no doubt acquired the minor paint-flaking that she has at the back of her head (typical on all china dolls from this era.) She also has a minor paint flake to the left eyebrow. Other than that, however, she is in incredible shape, no chips, cracks, or damage of any kind.

Her new owner will be an inheritor of the past. It is rare to find all original, gorgeous girls like this, and it is even rarer to find dolls like this with their original silk costumes that haven't suffered any fading. As a precious part of history that should be preserved as a Museum Quality example for future generations, this girl will bring a smile to your face every time you lay eyes upon her. Guaranteed.
