I have had this beautiful work of art for many years and have enjoyed it so much. The lovely figurine measures 9 1/2" tall and 7 1/2" wide. The children are just gorgeous with deep modeling and beautiful painting. The sister has blue painted eyes with the red line on the lid and her darling brother has brown eyes with the red line. There eyes have deeply molded lids and liner on the top eyelid. The sister has long blond molded hair and the brother has light brown hair. They are wearing beautiful pale yellow molded clothing with gold trim, ruffles and white dots. They are both sitting on a seat made to look like it is made of tree limbs and there is a basket at their feet. I cannot find a marker's mark on this lovely piece but it is old and undoubtedly German. There is a tiny flake on the toe of the girls shoe and a baking crack where the handles of the basket come together and a baking line between the legs of the little brother (these are in the making and were fired that way). There is also a tiny flake near the base on the right side but it has a tiny bit of color in it, so it probably is in the making also.
This is an exquisite and heart warming figurine and would go well in a doll collection as part of a display or just on it's own. What a lovely charming piece of art! c. 1890
