Burma Surgeon by Gordon S. Seagrave, MD, 1943 Vintage WWII Book
W. W. Norton & Company Inc. printed this apparent first edition in New York. The hardcover volume has a 1943 copyright, measures 8 ¾" x 5 ¾" x ¾" and has 250 pages, including maps and photographs. The dust jacket features a tropical green drawing that serves as the background to the title written in bold white, the author's name in black below. A picture of the author with three of his nurses cruising out to the front during the battle of Burma in a jeep borrowed from the British and Chinese Armies appears on the back of the dust jacket. The book has light brown cloth board covers with a gold gilt title boxed in forest green on the spine.
This copy is in very good, with less than average wear and aging. The unclipped dust jacket is in good condition. It has slight creasing, moderate chips and tears at the extremities and age toning, yet is now enclosed in a clear protective sleeve.
This first-hand account of a Doctor in the Far East is a timeless and historic addition to any book collection!
