Embrace by Anatole Krasnyansky hand signed art, ltd ed serigraph

Bordering on the surreal, Anatole Krasnyansky's "Embrace" (2001) features a whimsical harlequin embracing the Earth. This hard to find work of art echoes the artist's Eastern heritage and the cubist ideas of Picasso and Braque, while capturing and expressing the vibrancy of US culture.

The impression is on wove paper and measures 2.5" x 9" (about 31.75 x 22.86 cm). It is excellent condition, signed by the artist in ink (number 33 of 50 in the limited Hors Commerce collectible limited edition), it comes with Certificate of Authenticity. In person the colors (red, blue, green, yellow, purple & black) are more vivid than they are in the photos. Frame it to suit your tastes.

In addition to its social and aesthetic qualities, Krasnyansky's work is valued for its connection with the historical end of the cold war. According to his biography by Park West Gallery (2006-2007):

Now residing in California, artist Anatole Krasnyansky was already a prominent architect and watercolorist when he left the U.S.S.R. for the U.S. in 1975, where he found fertile ground for his aesthetic development. His cityscapes, much admired in Europe, have grown richer and more expressive. In recent years he has evolved an innovative style with which to render the experience and ideas of his new life in the United States.

With a Master's Degree in Architecture and Fine Art, he is well versed in the structure and design of the buildings he depicts. Since his arrival to the U.S., the artist has found important uses for his knowledge and creative imagination and has realized his tremendous potential, achieving virtuosity in several artistic areas, including television, motion pictures and the theatre.

Krasnyansky's awareness of the interdependence of diverse disciplines such as architecture, sculpture, painting and applied art have shaped his career and found expression in his art. His resulting artistic method is free from the constraints of traditional techniques. Inclusion of paper texture into the creative process is a dynamic element of his art and has resulted in an expansion of the medium's potential. One of the first artists to elevate watercolor painting to the expressive possibilities usually associated with oil paintings, Krasnyansky's works combine a rigorous artistic substance and foundation with his faith in the human spirit.
