Vintage Sterling Silver & Enamel Locket with Chain
Welcome to ROBINS NEST MIDWEST! May I offer for your consideration....
AGE: C.1900 or so - Edwardian Period
ITEM: A round silver locket featuring an enamel front - white with black dots (indicative of late Victorian, early Edwardian design). The front of the locket opens easily so that your own photo can be placed on the inside. Use as a pendant or maybe an overly large charm.
NOTE: The picture on the inside of the locket is a modern copy of a member of Queen Elizabeth's wedding party - it is something I inserted and in no way indicates the age of the locket.
CONDITION: Very nice with a mellow patina to the silver and no dents/dings. No chips/cracks to the enamel. Original glass is in place. Easy open front/easy closure.
METAL CONTENT: Sterling Silver
HALLMARKS: STERLING SILVER
SIZE: 1-1/16" across; depth is about 3/16".
WEIGHT: 5.9 grams with the accompanying chain.
FINAL COMMENTS: There has been some discrepancy with Ruby Lane over this item - some other jeweler seems to think this is a more modern piece than "Edwardian" - I disagree. It is Edwardian era in all its detailing and I stand by my conclusion. However, in order to placate that one jewelry dealer who "thinks" it is modern, I will put this listing in "Vintage" rather than "Antique" although I know full well the piece IS antique!
