Antique Sterling Enamel Guilloche Norway Rose Brooch Pin

This gorgeous old brooch is made of sterling silver. It is finished with vitreous glass (kiln-fired) enamel in opalescent white over a very detailed guilloche pattern that is meant to resemble watered silk. The piece features a luscious, hand-painted rose in delicate shades of pink and mauve, with green leaves and a hint of sky blue in the background.

Measuring 2 3/8" by 1 1/4", this brooch is quite large. It has a lovely ornate edge. The back was once likely a simple c-clasp that has been retrofitted with a secure roll-over safety clasp. The piece is signed "925S" along with the maker's initials, "T.J;" although I have seen the mark attributed to Sortland Bilforr, I have not been able to verify that.

The style is very similar to a piece I have by Ole Olberg, who was active 1907-1934; this piece would fall in the same date range. The brooch is in very good condition, with only minimal age-appropriate surface abrasions, but nothing deep or detracting.
