This lovely antique travel set is likely from Germany or Austria around the turn of the last century. It includes a green-dyed leather case with mother-of-pearl button clasp, built-in folding mirror, and brush and comb with 935 silver guilloche enamel spines.
The brush has natural bristles, and the comb has faux ivory celluloid tines. The two pieces have lovely 935 spines with an intricate guilloche (engine-turned) pattern that shimmers through lovely aqua blue, kiln-fired (vitreous glass) enamel.
The set is overall in very good condition. The only imperfections are that the button clasp is not secure; the comb appears to have suffered from somebody testing the material, and has a few tines that have about 1mm at the bottom missing, probably from melting; and one minor chip to the enamel at the corner of one side of the comb (see images of all).
The comb and brush are both marked "935" along with a maker's mark that I have not been able to identify. The pigskin leather is soft and supple, and although the button clasp is not secure, the case holds together well. When opened, the mirror folds out and can stand on a tabletop to free the user's hands to apply make-up etc.
