This item is a milkglass toby jar was made by the Atterbury Glass Company. This pressed glass owl toby jar would have been made in the late 1800's. The inner rim of the lid and base have the lugs to help keep the lid secure. Condition: There are some aging marks on the base that appear to be cracks along the base. These do not go through the glass. They seem to be on the outer part of the base. In looking closely at the face of the owl, the left outer edge seems to have a chip. It is not easily seen. I only caught it by comparing the two sides of the face. The inside of the jar and lid have normal aging.
This owl stands about 6 3/4" high. It is a wonderful piece of glass history and a great conversation piece.
