This rare one-of-a-kind doll was made by the late New York Artist Ron Kron in 1986 and to the best of my knowledge was used in a Manhattan window display along with other Kron dolls. A museum quality piece, this caricature doll of the "Massachusetts Miracle" Michael Dukakis, then Governor of Massachusetts, is artist signed and dated "Kron 86" on the back of the doll's neck. Dukakis won the Democratic nomination for the Presidency in 1988 but was defeated by George H. W. Bush. The doll is a wonderful example of Ron Krons intricately costumed "Portrait Sculptures" and a great political collectible as well. Krons dolls were sold out of his Manhattan studio and were commissioned by celebrities and fans from all over the world. Ron Kron gained national attention when given a two page photo article in People Magazine in May 1977. Now highly collectable, Krons dolls are displayed in museums, exhibits and private collections. This one-of-a-kind "Caricature Sculpture Art" doll, and clothes, was individually handcrafted by the legendary Ron Kron, a very rare find indeed. The doll is in good condition. There are some light rub marks, one on its nose ( See PICS), there are some stress cracks on the forearms (wrists) where the hands go into the arms (This is due to age or may have been made that way), the arms and hands look to have originally been made separately (these are the original hands and arms). The arms and hands are sturdy. The dolls hair could stand to be straightened out. This Ron Kron doll is fresh out of an estate and fresh to the market. The doll measures approx. 25" long.
