Very Vintage Reticulated Powder Box from China

Flip up the top and there is a mirror beneath, held by a sturdy bezel. The silvering does show damage, for the piece is quite old. There are three tabs holding the bezel in place. These could be lifted up, the bezel removed and the mirror replaced if one so wished. The interior walls have oxidized to a dark patina, common in brass. The hinge is in perfect working condition.

Originally I thought the box to be brass. However, beneath the box there is wear through the brass finish to what looks like copper. A couple small areas on the scalloped sides show green oxidation which is more common on copper. Also on the underside in center of this little lovely is stamped "China".

Size: Quite tall & narrow for a powder box, this vanity item measures 4-1/4" tall x 3-3/8" wide.

I can't say exactly the age of this box. It is hand engraved and hand stamped, made with quality in mind. By the look of the mirror, possibly 1920's give or take a decade or two. Nice weight, almost one pound.
