Japanese Porcelain Hair Receiver - Hand Painted
Completely hand painted, no appliques on this lovely. A bit of enamel was painted here and there adding wonderful highlights to the art work. The sides are painted in baby blue fading to white, with four Crane's in flight. The porcelain hair receiver stands on three gold gilt legs with feet, the gold has no wear on the legs. Gold gilt borders the edge of the top and bottom
A green printed hallmark beneath reads "Hand Painted - Made in Japan" and the "J" on Japan is printed backwards. There are also several Japanese symbols. I researched the mark and could not find it, though one of the Japanese symbols says "Nippon", the Japanese name for Japan. Because it does say in English "Made in Japan", this lovely made for export dating to the 1920's, give or take a year or two.
Condition: Pristine! No chips, but alas there is a hairline crack (seen in third photo) which I noticed on close inspection when photographing.
Really quite lovely and different, the piece measures 4-1/8" round x almost 3" high.
Tidbit: Just a quick note, the Manchurian Crane painted on the little lovely is the second rarest Crane in the world and at this time only a reported 1,500 in existence today.
