Antique Demitasse Pink Bisque Cup and Saucer

By Schafer & Vater, an absolutely darling figural demitasse cup and saucer made of baby pink porcelain with a fine bisque finish. The little lady has lots of personality with her fat cheeks, pug nose, small chin and large round eyes. She wears a wreath of pretty embossed petaled flowers around her head. Her hair is pulled back to the handle in a wee bun and braid, lightly glazed green. Portions of her face are also highlighted in the same light green. There are also orange highlights here and there. The interior of the cup does have a clear glaze. The saucer is oval shaped and framed with flowers delicately highlighted in green. For some odd reason this little Lady reminds me of the Queen of Hearts in Alice of Wonderland.

This character was made in the early 1900's in Germany. There is no Schafer & Vater hallmark, only an incised mark beneath looking like the number "34".

Size: Cup measures 2". From pug nose to braided handle, 3-1/4". The pretty in pink saucer measures 4-1/4" x 3-1/4".

Condition: Very good. The wee coffee cup has no chips, cracks or fleabites. The saucer has two chips beneath as seen in photo, but does not affect the stability of the plate for it sits flat with no wobble. Some paint loss.
