1915's Minton's Finger Bowl & Saucer

Vintage Minton pattern earthenware finger bowl and saucer produced by "Mintons" in England ca. 1915, almost an antique. The cobalt blue transfer-ware is that of flowers and scrolls which frames both pieces. A hand painted castle overlooks the waterway with sailing ships on the rather large rim of the bowl and dish

On the underside of the bowl and plate is printed Mintons (EST 1973) hallmark, with the pattern's name "Milton" in the ribbon. England & Reg No. 009852 is printed at the base of the mark. Impressed on the dish is a flower which is what dates this set to 1915, plus "Minton" (also impressed). The finger bowl also has the impressed flower and other impressed marks which I cannot make out.

These sweet finger bowls from days gone by are about the size of the of fruit & berry bowls. If you like to set a table with a nice variety, this English piece be an absolutely wonderful addition, even if used for condiments or sauces.

Size: The Minton bowl measures 4-1/2" x 1-5/8". The saucer measures 5-1/2" round.

Condition: Pristine! No chips or cracks. There is fine even crazing on the creme ceramic glaze. The bowl has yellowed a bit, more so than the plate.
