Art Nouveau Electric Table Lighter ** Yes, Electric!

An Antique cigar table lighter manufactured by Manning Bowman & Co., patented in 1911. This "Electric" cigar lighter is a great example of Art Nouveau meets new technology from days gone by. The piece is made of cast spelter with a lovely bronze finish. The antique table lighter stands on three legs. The cloth electric cord is original.

The lighting mechanism is ceramic with coils. Push and hold the button along side towards the center and the table lighter still warms but does not get hot enough to light the smokes of your choice. so burning yourself is not an option.

Manning & Bowman Company was located in Meriden, Conn. The USA company was prolific in producing different styles of electric lighters, but alas these tobacciana items slipped into history, and the tobacciana treasures were not made for long, soon to be replaced by gas lighters. This particular style is rarely seen, resembling a microphone. I could see how one day it was held comfortably in the hand as a lighter.

Size: Stands 7"

Condition: The bronze finish is in excellent condition with few fleabites. No dents or ugly scratches.

Item ID: 24.TL1
