Cherry Wood Churchwarden Tobacco Pipe

Imported from France, a "Ropp" handmade Churchwarden pipe made of rusticated Cherry wood. The bark of the Cherry tree was left on the stem and bowl. The long stem is topped with what I believe to be a vulcanized stem as is the lower elbow. Green and Red Leather strips was braided up and around the stem with a fringed tassel hanging along side next to the wooden ring. The rustic stem unscrews smoothly from both the mouth piece and elbow.

The deep bowl fits perfect in the hand. Flattened a bit on four sides to the natural Cherry-wood beneath, they are positioned perfectly for a comfortable hold whether left or right handed (surprisingly so).

The inside of the pipe is blackened from use. The scent of Cherry is quite strong, smells wonderful, but I can't say for certain if it is from the Cherry wood used or a fine Cherry tobacco.

As mentioned above it is a "Ropp" pipe, the name read clearly along side the black stem. Beneath the flattened bowl is stamped "Ropp * Alpine * Made in France".

Size: 10-3/8". The interior bowl is quite large, 3/4" x 2-1/8" deep, lots of room for lots of smoke.

Condition: Excellent. Other than the used bowl, this vintage long stemmed pipe is almost new.
