I love this old cabinet card that I would guess to be from the very early 1900's if not before. It is an odd size for a cabinet card...much like a panoramic size, only vertical rather than horizontal. It measures 8 1/4" x 4" and is in good condition, save a slight tear in the photo paper about an inch up from the bottom right side, but it has been glued securely.
Look at those high buckle shoes! I've seen high tops, but the look on this little person's face makes me wonder if his/her feet hurt! I say his/her, because I'm not perfectly sure. I at first thought a little girl, but I know lots of the little boys were also dressed with lace around their necks as well and in little dresses, but I sort of lean towards a girl with very short hair. She looks like she also might be playing with a necklace...but it may be the lace on the collar.
This photo finish is a little different than some. There are little white dots, almost like you would see on the old computer printer matrix patterns, but it's in the photo finish, and not something on the picture from age.
The back has mixed designs ranging from color palette easels to fleur de lis. It also says "C.W. Van Degrift, Van D....Sidney, Ohio." If you love old cabinet cards, or wonderful children photos from the past, you will want this one! What an adorable child!
