Beautiful Unsigned "Hunt" Scene Postcard from 1909
Look at this beautiful unsigned "Hunt" scene postcard that almost looks like watercolors, from 1909. The dogs have just come through the gate with the rider that has jumped the hedge, and you can see another horse in the distance. The rider is confident as he rides behind the 6 dogs that are stretched so long and high, it looks like they are flying. This is a beautiful card that probably was made from some painting, but we don't know which one as there is no artist nor name print name. The colors to the front go from muted greens to sharp reds, browns, blues & blacks, whereas the top portion that shows the scene in the distance is more of a grey scale portrait with a white horse.
The person who wrote the message for this card says "Uncle Jim, look out for Dick's Pond." Wonder if that's where this picture was made? It's addressed to Mr. James Jackson of Carlisle, Indiana and is postmarked in May of 1909. The condition is quite good with only minor wear to the edges. You won't be disappointed.
