19th C Punch Paper Embroidery Sampler of House

Dating from the mid-late 19th Century, this lot is a small Punch Paper Needlework Embroidery picture of a house. Woolen thread on a punched paper backing, these types of samplers were popular from the mid-late 19th Century and into the early years of the 20th Century. Usually they are large religious mottoes (or "God Bless Our House"). The smaller ones often included more secular themes such as cats or boats, etc. This is the first one of a house that I have run across.

The sampler measures 6 ¼" x 4 ½" (sight size) and it is framed in an early, but probably not original, wooden frame with gold liner. Overall frame size is 9" x 7". Great detailing on the house with windows and chimneys, a tree to the right of the house and even colorful red/pink/white flowers in the grass below the house. Very fine condition with nice mellow patina and no rips, tears, missing stitches, etc.
