Buffalo Pottery Deldare Ware Salad or Serving Bowl ~ Village Tavern Series

A large Buffalo Pottery Deldare Ware Salad or Serving Bowl from “Ye Village Tavern” Series and dated 1908. The bowl shows 3 men around a table doing what men usually do at a tavern: drink. There is a jug and several glasses on the table and the border includes buildings and trees. The bowl is signed ‘L. Streissel’ on the inside. It is 9” in diameter and 3 ¾” deep. The mark on the bottom includes the Buffalo logo from the pottery and the 1908 date. Excellent condition: no chips, cracks, lines, repairs, etc. The decoration is strong and the colors good.

Buffalo Pottery was owned by Larkin Soap during the early 20th Century. Deldare Ware was a special line, made between 1908 and 1911 and again in the early 1920s and used as premiums for the purchase of Larkin Soap products. It has become and important and highly collectible form of American Art Pottery.
