A dark blue Historical Staffordshire Cup Plate, 3 ¾" in diameter, titled "Cottage in the Woods (So-Called)" from the Trifoil Border Series by Enoch Wood & Sons. There is some differences of opinion among experts as to whether or not this is an American view, but it but it does appear in Vol. I of the Arman's definitive work on cup plate, "Anglo-American Ceramic Cup Plates, Part 1" along with other American views.
This little plate is in excellent condition: the color is strong, the transfer crisp and the glaze shiny and untouched. There are no chips, cracks, lines or restorations. It has a faintly impressed "Wood" mark on the back.
