A wonderful thin sheet metal figural Pig `Baked Ham' sign, retaining much of its original red painted surface. Probably from a deli or restaurant (and given the number of little nail holes, it may have been part of a "specials" board), this sign is about 19 ½" from snout to tail and 9" high at the ear. "Baked Ham" was hand-lettered in red enamel. Underside is painted black. Age is hard to determine, but it is definitely not new and dates to the 1st half of the 20th Century, most likely.
Condition is good. The paint has a nice crusty surface and there are no splits or cracks. Numerous tiny nail holes, as noted, specially in the nose and ear, as well as some evenly spaced holes along the back and belly: again, this guy was probably on and off the wall hundreds of times in its career. A fun folk art trade sign, especially if pigs are your thing!
