16” Staffordshire Flow Blue Scinde Pattern Platter, c. 1840

A crisp and clean 16" Flow Blue platter in the popular and important Scinde Pattern by J. & G. Alcock, dating c. 1840. The platter measures 16" x 12 ½" and has a scalloped edge. The large, central transfer is crisp and clear, with enough `flow' to provide the desired rich color but not so much that it obliterates the scene. The same is true for the floral border. The platter includes a blue "Scinde" cartouche and 2 impressed `14's. Condition is excellent: rich color, nice contrast and very shiny glaze. No chips, cracks, lines, restorations, etc. and no surface or utensil marks. 3 stilt marks in the border (1 top center, and one each lower left and lower right). A great opportunity to add a very desirable Flow Blue items to your collection. See also a Scinde Gravy Boat that I have on my Ruby Lane site also.
