A Quarter Plate measures 4.25" x 3.5"
Full standing figures are much rarer in early photography than the commonly seen seated ones. The subject of this lovely Ambro is a beautiful woman of obvious means. Her silk & velvet dress is sumptuous but tasteful. At the end of her long golden chain is chatelaine, no doubt. Her ring and brooch are also highlighted with gold and her cheeks are softly tinted pink. The image was found in England but could also be American. Part of a chair can be seen on the left side. It comes in the bottom half of a pressed leather case.
Condition: Excellent. Under intense scrutiny a bit of allegatoring can be seen where the black paint covering the reverse has separated in thin lines. I have not touched it. The glass is also original, note 3 scratches showing up as white lines in photo 2. It should be replaced. Retainer is intact.
