Lanselle Bridge Set, Fournier Playing Cards, Score Pads, c.1960

The Lanselle Company was an importer of fine playing cards in the 1950s and 1960s, including cards printed by Philibert in France and Fournier in Spain. This bridge set was published by Lanselle, but made by Fournier. The Ace of Spades bears the date 1960, and that is the approximate date of most other fine decks imported by Lanselle; the tax stamp on the 4 of Clubs for each deck is consistent with that date.

The bridge set consists of a double deck of playing cards, each with large indices ("818 Gigante"), 2 wonderful Jokers, and an insert card in English that describes contract bridge and canasta scoring, together with two bridge score pads in matching white fabric holders. Ironically, although this is a bridge set, the cards are poker size (90mm x 63mm), with gold gilt at the corners.

The set is in its original Lanselle box, and the cards are in their original Fournier box. The cards have been lightly used, but are in excellent condition, with gold gilt intact. The score pad holders are likewise in excellent condition, although pages from the inserted score pads have been torn off. An excellent bridge set.
