Milton Bradley "Snap" Card Game, c.1905

A superb "Snap" card game made by Milton Bradley c.1905. It features beautiful graphics on the faces of the cards, and a terrific Native American child on the backs. "Snap" is a card game for very young children. The object is to win all of the cards, and the basic rules of play are described as follows on a prominent website:

"Choose a dealer randomly. The dealer shuffles the cards and deals them as evenly as possible to all of the players. It's fine for some players to have one card more than other players.

"Each player places his cards, face down, in a pile in front of him.

"The player to the left of the dealer goes first. Play then moves clockwise.

On his turn, each player turns over the top card from his face-down pile. When someone turns over a card that matches a card already face up on another player's pile, players race to be the first to call `Snap!' The player who calls `Snap!' first wins both piles and adds them to the bottom of his face-down pile."

This set is complete with 40 cards – 10 groups of 4 each, with group titles such as Snap Shot, Ginger Snap, Skating Snap, etc. The rules of the game are printed to the underside of the box lid. The cards are slightly wide, measuring 89mm x 61mm, and they are housed in the original box.

The cards and box are in remarkable condition, "as new" or very nearly so. In this listing, there are photos of all 40 cards, and several pictures of the box in an attempt to convey just how good the condition is – the best I have ever seen in an antique children's game.
