USPC “Riviera” Glamour Pinochle Playing Cards, c.1943

Very nice glamour deck of pinochle cards made by United States Playing Card Company, its “Riviera” brand, with an illustration of a very pretty gardener on the backs. I have never seen this illustration before, and do not know the artist. The Spade Ace has USPC#E1863, which means it could conceivably date to 1943 or 1963, but given the wonderful innocence of the illustration, the deck is almost certain to date to 1943.

The deck is a pinochle deck, and so is complete at 48 cards (i.e., 2 x 24, Ace and 9-K, never a joker). The cards are bridge size, measuring 89mm x 58mm, with gold gilt around, and come in the original box.

The cards are in excellent, lightly used condition, with edge wear and evidence of handling, but otherwise without issues; there is something like 25% of the gilt intact. The box is in very good, perhaps even excellent, condition, with a clean sample card.

Thank you for visiting.
