Ets. Brepols S.A. “Royal Cards” (“Cartes Royales”) Playing Cards, Dutch Courts and Aces, Bulldog Backs, c.1930s.

Beautiful deck of cards with Dutch/Flemish standard court cards and Dutch Aces, a terrific Joker, and delightful bulldog backs, made by Ets. Brepols of Turnhout, Belgium under the name "Royal Cards." This deck is shown at the World Web Playing Card Museum (WWPCM #04416/02), and apparently it was made starting in 1916. My sense from the stock used and the relative lack of finish is that the deck dates c.1930s, but that date is approximate.

The deck has 52 cards, plus a Joker. The cards are slightly large and wide, measuring 92mm x 61mm, with gold gilt at the corners. There is no box.

The cards are “as new.”
