Mint double deck of cards made by Dal Negro for the Prix de L’Arc de Triomphe, the most prestigious horse race in Europe and one of the most renowned of international sporting events. The Arc was sponsored in the late 1980s and early 1990s by CIGA Hotels, and these cards reference CIGA; accordingly, I have dated the cards c.1990. The cards feature a handsome illustration of horses and jockeys on the backs, and while the decks are close in appearance, the border of the illustration is a different color in each.
Each deck has 52 cards, plus 2 standard Dal Negro Jokers, plus a backed Dal Negro bridge scoring card. The cards are bridge size, measuring 89mm x 58mm, and come in the original packaging. The packaging consists of a hard plastic tray inside a box.
The cards are in mint condition. One deck is still sealed, and the other was removed from its wrapping for inspection and photographing for this listing. The plastic tray is in excellent condition; however, it is a tight fit to the box and so the box, which is otherwise “as new,” is stressed at two the two ends where the tray is inserted.
