Double Deck Waddington's "Dohm Group" Adv. Playing Cards, Siriol Clarry "Four Elements" Designs, c.1964

Double deck of advertising cards made by John Waddington Ltd. for the Dohm Group, featuring the designs of Siriol Clarry’s “Four Elements” cards on the faces. The original Siriol Clarry cards (see this shop #T00001327) were published in 1964, and I have dated these advertising cards the same year. The Siriol Clarry cards are sometimes called the “Four Elements” cards, because each of the 4 suits is dedicated to one of the four elements.

The deck with red backs is complete with 52 cards, plus 2 Jokers. The deck with blue backs has 52 cards, plus 1 Joker, and it appears that 1 of the Jokers was removed. The original Siriol Clarry cards were accompanied by a presentation card, but these decks never had that card. The cards are bridge size, measuring 90mm x 59mm, and come in the original blue plastic card case.

The deck with red backs is “as new” with remnants of its wrapper remaining. The deck with blue backs is in excellent condition, with evidence of handling and slight edge wear, perhaps very lightly used.
