C.L. Wüst "Paris Pattern" Playing Cards, c.1880s

Excellent deck of C.L. Wüst “Paris Pattern” (or “French Pattern”) cards, with the German tax stamp (“old eagle”) on the Ace of Hearts that was used during the period 1879-1888. These are not the C.L. Wüst “Paris Pattern” (or “French Pattern”) cards shown in the Shaw/Symons catalogue or at the World Web Playing Card Museum, and I do not find these cards in any research sources available to me. The cards have no indices, and have round corners and borders.

The deck is complete at 52 cards (never a joker). The cards are small, measuring 85mm x 56mm, with gold gilt at the corners. There is no box.

The cards are in excellent condition, lightly used, except that the Ace of Hearts has what appears to be ink staining.

Thanks for visiting.
