Grimaud (France Cartes) "Jeu Cartomantic" Fortune Telling Cards, c.1974

Mint, sealed set of fortune telling cards made by Grimaud, accompanied by an instruction booklet. Please note that the booklet and all notations on the cards are in French. The fortune cards have small inset cards, with French suits and court designs. The overall design of the cards is attributed to Henry de Surrey. The faces of the cards shown here are from an open deck, but the deck for sale is still in its wrapper. The booklet shows a copyright of 1974, and so I have dated the cards that date; however, it is possible that they were made later.

The set is complete at 32 cards (Ace, 7-K), with 3 insert cards announcing the deck and advertising other Grimaud products, and, as noted above, comes with an instructional booklet in French. The cards are long and narrow, measuring 111mm x 60mm, and come in the original box.

Again, the actual deck for sale here is still sealed in its wrapper.

Thanks for visiting.
