Excellent set of playing cards featuring photographs from the popular “Kojak” television program, made by Dutch card maker Rhoon, B.V. Apparently the cards were sold in packages of bubble gum – 8 cards and 1 piece of gum per package -- and one of the packaging wrappers for these cards is included. The court card indices indicate that the cards were intended for sale in many countries (see, e.g., “Q” “D” and “V” on the Queens), and on the back of the wrapper there are notations in 3 languages.
The deck consists of 52 cards, plus 4 Jokers. The cards are small, measuring 78mm x 48mm, and the faces of the cards seem to have a different finish (coated) than the backs (uncoated). Also, the edges of the cards show that they were removed from (punched out of) a larger sheet. This may have occurred before packaging, or it may be that each card was inside a larger sheet when packaged. The cards are significantly smaller than the wrapper that packaged them.
The cards and package are in “as new” condition.
