Excellent deck of “Whist No.27” cards made by J. Muller & Cie, c.1910. Presumably they were intended for sale in France – or at least where French is spoken – as the court cards have indices R, D, and V, and the writing on the box is in French. The backs of the cards are very similar to backs that were used by Wust in one of its House Patterns. The designs of many of the court cards are also reminiscent of Wust House Pattern courts, although there are significant and substantial differences.
The deck has 52 cards; I do not believe there was ever a Joker and the box suggests there was not. The cards are large bridge size, measuring 92mm x 60mm, with gold gilt at the corners, and are in the original box.
The cards are in excellent lightly used condition, with very slight soiling to a small portion of the Ace of Diamonds. Almost all of the gold gilt is intact. The box is in very good condition, with evidence of age and wear, but structurally very good.
