These lamps and the accompanying mantel vase are stunning. It is almost impossible to find an antique set of matching mantel oil lamps with the vase. The pink glass is cased over white glass and hand painted with a song bird and flowers. The colors are gorgeous - vibrant and bright.
The vase is 10 1/2 inches tall. The glass portion of the lamps is 11 1/2 inches tall. The lamps with the clear chimneys in place are a little over 2 feet tall.
Overall, the condition is good. There is some wear to the trim lines painted on the lamps and some of the decoration. There is a pea size ding on the side towards the bottom of one lamp. There is a split in the metal neck of one burners. I have made sure to provide photographs of both of these flaws. One milk glass fluted smoke shade appears to be original, it is cracked but serviceable. The other shade is a replacement that has had the upper lip where it encases the chimney trimmed so that it matches the original shade. They are not exactly the same size.
The knob to the burner turns easily. I did not attempt to remove the burners from the glass bodies. I did not try to use the lamps as oil lamps. One burner is marked Korner & Co Berlin. The other is marked Bayonnet Schluss Brenner.
Please take the opportunity to view this antique mantel set closely using the wonderful Ruby Lane photography enlargement options. It is amazing this set managed to stay together and I will not sell any part of it separately.
