A very large and fine Chinese Cultural Revolution polychrome ivory figural group, dating to the Republic Period. This amazing piece was carved by a master artisan from one large and heavy block of genuine ivory. The group is composed of three young children carrying a peach and ruyi while holding hands with one another. The carving is covered with blossoming peonies of pink and yellow hues above a rocky plinth. It is incredible how each thin petal and leaf was carved with such delicacy. The artisan certainly utilized various tools in order to carve outward from within the ivory block. On its original polished wood stand. Cultural Revolution ivories continue to climb in value with each year. This particular example is an amazing investment, especially since it was masterfully executed - absolutely flawless!
