A charming ivory carving of the Munich Child (Munich's Coat of Arms), dating to the late 19th century. He stands atop a wine/beer barrel, holding a cross up high, as if to convey a message to a large crowd. His features, clothes and face are especially well carved. It is signed on the bottom with the original gilt bronze plaque which reads "J Zimmermann Muenchen Purusastr 1."
Condition: Good condition. There is a repair to the hand holding the cross and the cross is a replacement.
Measurements: 3 1/2 in. tall x 1 in. diameter. Ivory alone: 2 1/4 in. tall.
